Identity proposed for a newsletter devoted to the redevelopment effort in Lower Manhattan.
The identity is simple, bold, authoritative, and hopeful. As a symbol of strength and cohesion, it is intended as rallying point for the community as it engages in the difficult process of reconstruction.
The reference to the crown of the Statue of Liberty in the form of the 'W' suggests a rising motion and serves as a reminder of the symbolic significance of the site of the catastrophe. The composition of the identity also allows for the upper portion – Lower Manhattan – to act alone as a brand for the area.
