Jack the Union in development
discipline: identity / branding theme: agitation
Identity for a campaign to deflate the myth of the British (and for that matter, any other) Empire.
A country whose national drink is darjeeling tea and favorite meal is a post-pub vindaloo, is long overdue for a collective re-examination of the stories it tells itself about its "glorious" past.
The same pernicious attitudes of superiority that allowed for the pillaging of countries half way around the globe, and the oppression of their peoples in order to satisfy a craving for cotton, pepper, sugar, and tea, persist today in the rhetoric around the issues of immigration, the outsourcing of skilled work, commodity pricing, trade barriers, and the white man's burden of exporting democracy to the developing world.
The identity splinters the parts of the Union Jack, and flips its palette to reveal a more 'ethnic' strain within.

Wise up, paleface!
The chickens have come home to roost.
We're flying in from your old colonial capitals.
We speak your language; read your books, watch your movies, and charm your women.
We breed with you and produce beautiful chimeras.
We're taking your jobs because we're younger, smarter, and we work harder.
We've taught you just as much we've learnt; and we know the lessons of free markets, democracy & human rights, organic farming, ethnic beats, java classes and bio-technology.
We don't want your apologies;
We're not making any.
We've come to claim our piece of the pie.
And there are billions of us.
Your only hope for cultural survival is to shake the hypocrisy, stop playing the zero-sum game, and to learn how to share with the wetbacks, the injuns, the jews, the pakis, the gooks, the negroes, the mulattoes, the moors, and the chinks of the world.
